VEHICLE DESCRIPTION
With over 100 pages of records and communication documenting an extensive restoration by GTM & Son, LLC in Greer, SC, using parts from Panteras by Wilkinson and Pantera Performance Center, this 1973 deTomaso Pantera is one of the nicest examples on the road. The restoration took place from late-2009 until late-2011, and while being restored, black fiberglass low-profile front bumpers were installed for a cleaner front end. Services continued at GTM through 2021 when it was purchased by the current owner. Now showing just over 9000 miles, and protected by full-car paint protection film, and with new tires fitted in 2023, this stunning Pantera is turn-key.
The deTomaso Pantera, Italian for “Panther,” debuted at auto shows in 1970 and were imported to the United States by Ford before being offered for sale through Lincoln and Mercury dealerships in late-1971. By 1972, a revised, lower compression ratio version of the 351 Cleveland now powered the Pantera, and for 1973, some minor interior adjustments were made, namely in the dashboard and gauge cluster.
According to its Marti Report, this Pantera is one of only 126 produced in May of 1973, and it is one of only 178 ordered in Red for the year. Accompanying the Marti Report and both restoration and subsequent service records, there are dozens of developed photos that document the process. Numerous issues of the Pantera Owners Club of America newsletter accompany the vehicle, as do releases of the Profiles magazine.
